Ko Phi Phi Islands - 2014 Sep 6

I didn't think I'd leave Patong Beach so soon, but yesterday after staring at the horizon for too long, I had a strong urge to get back on the open road...I laid a course for the pearl of Thailand - Ko Phi Phi Islands.

Up at six, I showered, packed, and headed to the street to find a taxi ($16) to take me twelve miles to the East side of Phuket.

30 minutes later I was at the Rassada Pier in Phuket Town, purchased a ferry boarding pass ($20), ordered a batch of banana pancakes, and took a front row seat for the two hour boat ride across the Andaman Sea to Phi Phi's Tonsai Pier.
Two hours later we arrived. Unexpectedly, we circled the southern island, Ko Phi Phi Le, giving us a free tour of it's towering sheer rock faces.
And then our final destination Ko Phi Phi Don.
I shopped four separate hotels before finally picking the one with the best view for $13 per night. It doesn't have A/C or hot water, but I don't recall the Swiss Family Robinson having those luxuries either.
After settling in and resting, I found a restaurant just off the beach, and had the best plate of chicken curry yet.

Walked the beaches until dusk. Back to my room for a shower, then back out to check out the nightlife. This must be a top destination for Austrailia's spring break. Big slice of pizza and two Singha beers for dinner.
