Visa Run: Vientiane, Laos - 2014 Oct 13

The purpose of coming to Vientiane, Laos was to obtain a double entry tourist visa for Thailand. This will allow me to stay for an additional 180 days.

Up at 7:30 AM, caught a tuk-tuk($5) to ATM (withdrew 500,000 kip), to Money Exchange (converted 525,000 kip to 2,100 baht), and then to Thai Consular Office by 8:30.
Paid an outside vendor ($3) for passport photos, and another guy ($2) for the application form and copies of my passport. I could have obtained both inside for cheaper or at hotel for free.

Next, stood in line for 1.5 hours to get a ticket number.

Then was able to take a seat in the shade and wait on my number (#325) to be called for another 1.5 hours - to submit application with passport.
Then to the adjacent building to wait another 1.5 hours for my number to be called again - to pay 2,010 baht fee ($65).

Walked across the street for lunch on this last wait; ate chicken fried rice, soup and ice-cream ($6).

I pick up my  tourist visa and passport tomorrow afternoon.

On the way back to my hotel, I bummed a ride on the back of a German girls bicycle I had been talking with...that got alot of laughs.

The restaurant I ate dinner at last night, Kho Chai Deu, was a good place to meet Laos girls. This country is very discrete compared to Thailand, no one approached me, but there were many long inviting stares. The cute girl sitting next to me at the bar was very eager to start a conversation.
