Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - 2014 Nov 19

Traveled from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam today. Out of bed at 9 AM. Quietly packed so not to disturb the four other people sleeping. Grabbed two pieces of toast from the complimentary breakfast buffet.

Bought an MRT ticket from Chinatown to airport ($2.50) - about a 30 minute trip.

Checked in with Viet Jet Air, and to my gate at 12 PM. This airport has its security scanners at each gate; no long wait lines like at a centralized security hub.
Boarded plane, and taxied to the runway right-on-time at 1 PM.

Arrived an hour and forty-five minutes later at HCM Airport. Lost an hour, so back to 13 hours ahead of Huntsville, Alabama.

Walked to the "Landing Visa" line, gave them my passport, paperwork, and $45 US. Waited 20 minutes for them to process, then quickly thru the immigration line and customs.
Outside the terminal, I exchanged $150 Sing for 2,445,000 Viet Khoan.

Bought a 1-month unlimited data plan for my phone ($14).
Checked on taxi fees; at the airport they wanted $15, which I knew was a ripoff; walked toward my destination, Phạm Ngũ Lão Street, until I passed a scooter-taxi, and paid him $4 to take me four miles.
Walked around the block, checking out the scene, and hotel prices. At 5 PM, finally settled on a room with a balcony overlooking the main party road for $18 per night - still high, should be $10 to $14 in this area I was told.
Napped and rested up for tonights activities.
