Singapore - 2014 Nov 17

My phone alarm chimed at 4 AM, showered, packed, out to find a scooter-taxi for the two mile ride to the airport, not enough time to walk.

The streets were deserted except for an old tranny who was just pulling up to the corner on a scooter. After I rejected her offers about ten times, she reluctantly took me to the airport for $4 - wish I had a pic of that scooter ride!

Checked in, thru security, paid a $16 departure tax. The plane took off at 6:15 and landed at the Singapore Changi Airport at 8:45 AM.
Thru immigration and customs without any problems. Exchanged my Indonesian and Thai currency for $54.60 Singapore Dollars ($42.14 US).

Followed the signs thru the airport that read "MRT to City". Bought a ticket ($2.20) for the Kallang Station, known for its restaurants.
Not much going on there, so I paid $1.60 more for an MRT ride to the Clarke Quay Station, situated between Chinatown and Little India. Several hostels in this area that are in my budget.
Walked from the MRT to Chinatown. Ate a Chili's lunch combo-meal that was fairly priced ($10).
Booked a bed in a $20 hostel called 5Footway.Inn Project Chinatown I. Checked in, then walked around the area, and to the nearby Sri Mariamman Temple.

Received my Vietnam Visa approval letters today via email, now just need to find somewhere to print them.
