Surfer's Paradise - 2015 Nov 30

"we must not stop here, However sweet these laid-up stores, however convenient this dwelling we cannot remain here, However shelter’d this port and however calm these waters we must not anchor here, However welcome the hospitality that surrounds us we are permitted to receive it but a little while." - Walt Whitman

Seven days flies by when you party it up every night. Had a blast and could stay another month, but...

Booked a flight to Sydney for Tuesday ($41).

Surfers Paradise, Australia - 2015 Nov 25

"Because he had no place he could stay in without getting tired of it and because there was nowhere to go but everywhere, keep rolling under the stars. - Jack Kerouac

Flight arrived in Brisbane on-time yesterday, then a 1.5 hour train ride to Gold Coast ($35), then 30 min bus ride to Surfers Paradise ($5), and finally a mile walk to my hotel ($30/nite).

My sleep is all out of wack, feel asleep at 8 PM and wide awake at 4 AM. So went for a morning run and watched the sunrise.

I love cities with long sidewalks along the beach and excersie equipment spaced every so often; and wild parrots flying around.

Hawaii - 2015 Nov 22

"If time travel is possible, where are the tourists from the future?" - Stephen Hawking

Ok, I leave Hawaii at 9 AM on Nov 23. My flight is 9 hours long, and am flying back 3 more timezones. What time do you think I arrive? ...Nov 24 at 2 PM.

I am time traveling nearly a day ahead, which means I lose a day?? I'm still confused about the whole thing.

Last night I finally caught a Hawaiian Luau, tho not the kind I wanted with beautiful women in thatch skirts. This must have been family night, only had children and elders.

Today was mostly rainy so didn't do much. Watched a volleyball tournament on the beach until another downpour ran everybody off. Then put in a 30-minute workout on the beach gym.

See you in Australia, or Oz, as they call it.

Loop Around Honolulu - 2015 Nov 21

Up early this morning for a day trip around Honolulu. My roommate and I split a $55 car rental. We did a counter-clockwise tour, covering 105 miles in eight hours.

For lunch I tried the local lau-lau with a side of poi.

And dinner...chicken and meatballs on a stick...best meal so far this trip.

Diamond Head Crater - 2015 Nov 20

"Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet." - R. Miller

The rainstorm briefly stopped at 9 AM, so I made out for the top of Diamond Head. It was a two hour walk from my hostel to the peak. As soon as I reached the top the downpour continued.

I decided to ignore the rain and walked the long route around the crater on the way back.

Wakiki Beach - 2015 Nov 19

Spent half the day shopping for a new pair of boardshorts, as usual I didn't buy anything.

Splashed my feet in the ocean on Wakiki Beach, but it's too cold for my taste. I prefer the warm waters of Thailand.

Walked two miles down Kalakaua Ave. to Ala Moana Beach Park. Found a good shade tree just off the beach and took a nap. Started raining on my way back and hasn't stopped.
